The Majami al-Hadb Protected Area is located about 80 kilometers east of the city of Rania. It has an area of 2256.4 square kilometers. The Protected Area is characterized by dark volcanic mountains and sandy desert plains, in addition to containing many weathered granite domes with pale colors.
A number of 48 plant species were recorded in the protected area which was found to include a large groups of trees such as Acacia tortilis , Acacia gerrardii, Maerua, and Moring trees mainly. The protected area is a potential reintroduction site for some wild species that were present in the protected area before they disappeared.
